Saw one of my ob today. I told her about my butt problem and she instantly said, "sciatica". I don't think it is...maybe it is cuz last time I told her I felt short of breath during rest and she rushed me to see a cardiologist. I guess I have to take her word for it. I have a hard time trusting people...doctors especially. I know they want to do what's best for you...or do they? I only knew of one doctor who really seemed to have my interest at heart. I miss her.
On another note...hosting my first baby shower for my sister. Can't wait. It finally gave us a reason to clean house, but I'm really excited to cater this event and hope the food will turn out well...I just hope there's enough. I'm always told I make waaayyy too much food so I've cut back and actually followed the directions on the recipe.
Also purchased some nice folding chairs and some cute plastic wine glasses...gonna fill them with sherbert punch. How cute will that be?

Butt
I've finally turned 74 years old. I pulled a butt muscle about 3 weeks ago...didn't really think about it at the time. I was giving Ellie a bath and I was attempting to straighten out my back when I felt my butt muscle burning...similar burning feeling when one works out their arms or legs...you know how they say, "feel the burn", that's what I felt, only I was neither working out nor trying to feel any burn.
So the next week, I would feel a sharp pain when I would bend over at the sink to wash my face or brush my teeth, but it soon went away and I could walk normally. The next week, it took a little longer for me to recover from the sharp pain in my butt. If felt just like the time when I pulled my shoulder, only now, it was my butt. Can I say "butt" one more time?
So I'm trying to visualize my skeletal anatomy...where exactly are my hip bones?...where's the joint? It felt like I pulled a joint out of socket. Searched online and I was surprised to discover our hip bone and socket joins at the butt. If you think I'm dumb for not knowing this, you have every right. I'm so bad with science/medicine, it's funny, which is why I pretend to be the "doctor" when someone is hurt or sick...to throw off the scent that I really have no clue what's wrong. Did you know I was a biology major hoping to be pre-med for like 3 months in college? I got a "C" in the first course. Eight years later I was allowed to share all my mis-informed knowledge of science as a teacher to unsuspecting 2nd and 3rd grade students.
But I digress, back to my butt, I definitely pulled a muscle or ligament that's supposed to help the hip joint stay in place. It doesn't help that I'm pregnant either cuz not only does the increasing weight on my hips delay the healing process, but pregnancy also causes all your joints and ligaments to loosen to accomodate baby's growth and prepare for delivery. Gads! How am I going to do that?
The limping and difficulty getting up and down from a chair can't help be noticed and I'd desperately like one of those walkers, so what will I say when people ask what's wrong? It seems strange to say I hurt my hip when in fact, I really hurt my butt, but it's less embarrassing to say hip, so I think I'll just say I look really good for a 74 year old.

Scent
I smell like baby again.
Jae assembled the crib so I decided to put the mattress pad and fitted sheets on the crib. I could still smell "baby" on the sheets and bumper....oh my goodness! And it's rubbed off on me a bit...oh that wonderous smell! As Frank Barone once said, "It's the fountain of youth!"
I miss how Ellie smelled the first month of her life....that baby smell. Now she smells like jelly beans...sigh...

30 + 1
It's my birthday today. Woo hoo! I came into this world some time around 5 in the morning and weighed somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 pounds.
You know korean parents never keep track of those things. Back in the days, they were more concerned the baby had 10 fingers and 10 toes, looked somewhat cute, ate well, and made it to their 100th day.
I get to buy new bedsheets without grief from Jae as my birthday gift. I also got 2 fluffy pillows, which comes in really handy about now...I was just thinking last night how nice it would be to have more pillows. As an added bonus, Jae was kind enough to stay up in the wee hours of the night to put my new computer together, which I am using right now.
Later my sister will come by and make cupcakes for me (it's really for Ellie), but who cares! I love cupcakes!

Number 1
Ellie went number 2 in her potty yesterday. Today, she went number 1, but not number 2. There were struggles, but she was able to pee in her potty a couple of times along with a couple of accidents. Towards the end of the day, it almost seemed like she was "leaking" or just didn't notice that she was wet my shirt, my pants, her blanket, and her underwear.
I think she's yet to learn what it is to "pee". All she knows is that her legs get wet for some reason and she doesn't like it and she doesn't yet know when she's about to pee. I know she able to hold it in and that she can go for at least a couple of hours without peeing, so I will just have to be more observant of her and find ways to support and encourage her the best I can.
Jae and I are so excited to see Ellie grow up, slowly, but surly. We are learning a lot through this process as well....
1. we expect too much
2. we are impatient
3. we get discouraged easily
So throughout all this potty training business, we need to constantly remind ourselves...
1.expect setbacks/accidents
2.be patient...we are working on Ellie's timetable, not our own
3.IT'S ONLY BEEN 2 DAYS!
4. celebrate all of Ellie's achievements

Change
I so miss my computer. I'm thankful to even have one to blog and complain on, but I do miss the little things like not having to retype my sign in names and passwords, listening to my music, adjusting the screen color and contrast to my own preferences, automatically being signed on to MSMessanger and so on. I'm too lazy to reset "things". If I'm going to get a new case soon, why bother?
Ellie and I spent an hour outside...she was playing in her water table and I sat on a chair soaking up the sun...once in awhile I'd toss a ball to Chloe. It is strange...I put on sunscreen today and actually got tan only in the places I'd applied sunscreen. Ellie tanned as her usual self, but her hands were extremely dark. I thought that strange considering they were immersed in water the whole time. Can one get tan underwater?
