Baby Doll

My husband and I often wonder how Ellie will treat her younger brother or sister. A lot of people tell us we may have some resistance to the new arrival. It's a general given that the older sibling will show feelings of jealousy or resentment.

Well, I purchased a baby doll who only pees when she sits on her potty...it's genious! I thought watching this baby may stir up some interest in Ellie to use the potty herself. As soon as we opened the box, Ellie fell immediately in love with her. She said, "Awww! It's so cute! Wanna come to Ellie?" She wrapped the doll in her blanket and rocked her, sang to her, strolled her, fed her, helped her go potty, wiped her, took a nap with her, and consoled her when she was crying.

I know the doll is nothing compared to the real thing, but if I got anything out of this day, it is that Ellie is a very nurturing person. Ellie is always so willing to help out and as Pumpkin's mother will testify, she did a great job calming her baby with a silver bag. =)

Another Ice Cream Incident

Jae is infamous for his famous ice cream phrase, "It's strawberry, it's chocolate, it's vanilla...it's metropolitan ice cream."

Although Jae did not say anything interesting like that, he did something I think only .2% of the male population has done.

I woke up this morning craving for ice cream when I walked into the kitchen and found the lid of the ice cream container. "Oh great!" Just when I want ice cream, my husband eats it. The lid was dried up with ice cream and very sticky, but I could not find the ice cream container. Later in the day, Chloe had grabbed another one of Ellie's shoes, so I grabbed her shoes and walked over to the foyer to place them back in the shoe rack when lo and behold!...there was an empty, dried-up, sticky ice cream container sitting on top of the shoe rack! It was almost as if I were the detective and Jae was the not-so-clever thief who left his trails behind.

As I've said time and time again, all I could do was shake my head. Another one of Jae's follies.

The Sensitive Man

Jae comes home today and says, "Chloe, (our dog) you need a bath today. Actually, everyone in this house needs a bath."

I sneered as usual. Why doesn't he just throw loofah in my face? I reminded my husband that he once used to be a sensitive man. Then he said, "If you had been eating on a normal cycle, you wouldn't have been insulted by that comment."

Does he realize I had just spent the past 6 days without getting more than straight 3 hours of sleep?

I love my husband, but I miss the Sensitive Man.

Oh Well

I took a visit to see a friend in the city...another friend leaving me...it's nothing new, yet i still can't get used to it. I wonder why God places certain people in my life for only a moment. What have I to gain from temporary laughter though the memory of it lives on forever? What can I do but take on my daughter's wisdom and just say, "Oh well." She is brilliant.

Although I hate goodbyes, I enjoyed the trip cuz I didn't drive...took the train into the city...played Sudoku on the way there, looked out the window on my way back. It could have been a Good Will Hunting moment if I didn't fall asleep with my mouth half open...so it was more of a Homer Simpson moment...drool...aaaggghhhh....Ha ha! You thought this post was going somewhere, didn't you? Ha ha! This is how the Park family deals with life...we make fun of it...there would have been no other way to survive! If my character was on Lost, every other sentence would be a punch-line and I, thrown into the ocean by episode 4.

Real sport

Ellie said, "I'm a princess!" a couple of days ago. I shook my head.
Ellie said, "I'm a ballerina!" yesterday. I shook my head.

We were watching Olympic skating last night then Ellie started to imitate the skaters...jumping, twirling, making dramatic faces, singing.

How ironic would it be if Ellie became an ice skater? For those of you who don't see the irony, let me mention that Ellie's father does not believe ice skating is a "real" sport...whatever that means.

Ellie loves her pajamas from Grandma. She is now a proud owner of 2 Penguin pajama sets. Ellie loves penguins.
And here is Georges Seurat's A Sunday on La Grande Jatte 2000 puzzle piece completed in under 8 weeks.

I am the puzzle master!

Invasion

I've settled down a bit regarding the superbowl. Why I have a hard time letting go, I will never know. Anyways, I've been cleaning the house lately, I mean really cleaning it and keeping it clean. And that's another issue right there, but I realized our home is not as crazy as it appeared to me. The whole task of moving about the entire house seemed daunting to me. My body reacted in a similar way. I can imagine my brain saying, "i feel alive and useful again!" but it also must have sensed some panic at first because a lymph node near my jaw line ever so gently made its appearance on my neck. "It's a tumor!", I cried. My sister reassured me that I was out of my box and said glands near the neck can get swollen when they are trying to fight off bacteria or virus.
My brain---"Why is she cleaning? She's way past PMS/Nesting Urge Operation. Is she alright? She must be sick. Better call in Captain Lymph Node to secure the area. "Captain, we have reason to believe this woman is sick or she's out of her box. Either way, update us immediately on the situation."
My lymph node---"Yes General. Right away. I shall try a scare tactic by popping out of her neck like a marble. If she ignores that strategy, I shall try to distract her by giving her an ear ache. If she continues to clean the house, we shall deprive her of food and water by making her throat sore whenever she swallows."
My brain---"Excellent." (Mr. Burns)

#7 Again

Yes, I wore #7. I cheered, I jumped, I yelled, I fell, I ate, I gave a horseback ride, I jeered, I sighed, I complained, I denied, I stared, I promised never to become a Steeler fan.

Really stupid human tricks

What am I doing instead of tidying up the house and finishing the "cursed" jigsaw puzzle? I'm practicing moving only my pinkie toe. And I ask why Ellie's not potty trained yet.
