New Bed and Strike

As promised, here is Ellie's new big girl bed! Yeah! It fit beautifully with her room.

Ellie couldn't wait to try out her bed.

This dresser is gigantico compared to her old one. Ellie looks so small next to it.

Completely unrelated pictures, but just as cute...Ellie doing her Homeplate Umpire impersonation "Striiiike!" and "You're outta here!"

Big girl bed

Ellie's big girl bed is arriving today! Yippee! Jae moved out her old dresser to make room for the new one and cleaned her room so the men will have room to assemble her beautiful new bed. We still need to purchase a waterproof matress pad and side guard rails so Ellie will not fall off the bed, but with the way she sleeps, I'm sure she'll find some way to fall off. I'm also thinking about getting Ellie a summer blanket. She just has way too many blankets that are either too small or too thick.

Ahh...now we tackle cleaning out the guest room to convert it to Jae's workroom so we can convert his current workroom into the baby's room. The blue paint is going as well. It's too harsh for baby's eyes.

Anyways, will post pictures once everything is in place. I wonder if Ellie will sleep in it tonight. I'm so excited!

A Decision for Mom

This is Ellie enjoying a mid-day snack outside with her ZooPals plate. She loves ZooPals and sings the jingle every time she uses it. It's too funny. She also insisted on wearing her sunglasses cuz it was too sunny for her. I think she just wants to look cool.

The red rain jacket she's wearing is actually mine. I know I have a picture of me wearing it somewhere in my junk box. I'll come back and post it next to Ellie. I can't believe she's wearing my baby clothes already. This is why I keep all of Ellie's clothes in case she wants to hand them off to her daughter. If she decides she doesn't want them, that's her choice, but I at least want to give her the opportunity to make that decision. My mom recently denied me of making an important decision, which I'm still dealing with, so I don't want to deny Ellie no matter how silly the issue may seem to me or others.

Mothers make decisions about their children everyday...some easy, some tough ones. There was no question, no doubt in my mind to take Ellie to the ER to get her fingers looked at yesterday. She was in so much pain, she couldn't even pick up a skittle. To me, that warranted enough reason to be worried. The nurse thought I had been crying as well...strange...I asked Jae for a second opinion and he agreed. I checked in the mirror and my face was beet red! I'm such a mess.

In spite of my weakness, Ellie was such a trooper at the hospital. She was so cooperative with the staff and did a great job holding still for her x-rays. The peds. unit at Barrington is pretty nice...everyone is super nice, which made things........nice.

Dad put a couple of band-aids on her finger for the night and the motrin started to kick in. I took Ellie to bed and she fell asleep instantly. She woke up in the morning and told us she felt much better so I took off her band-aids. Her fingers are starting to turn colors now...I guess there will be some bruising. But I'm so proud of Ellie. She handled the whole day much better than her mess of a mom. Jae was certain Ellie was fine (and he was right) but as I told him, "the trip to the ER was really for me." They humor me so much.

Save Energy

Ellie's making great use of her stepstool these days. She's realized just how much she's grown and is figuring out how to take advantage of it. She's discovered that she can reach the light switch if she stands on her step stool. So far, she's turned on the light in the dining room, kitchen, and living room. I remember my dad becoming annoyed with me and my sister for leaving the lights on in our room or if we left the tv on when we weren't there. I can still hear his voice..."Sabe enerjhee!" (save energy). He would say this in the same manner Jae says, "ghim!" So I could not muster enough seriousness to say, "Sabe enerjhee!" to Ellie without cracking a smile. I started to laugh out loud as I imagined my dad saying those infamous words while Ellie flipped on the lights. She caught me laughing and started to laugh as well.

Yearly appt.

Here goes nothing!

Another appt. to get my hair highlighted before the social gatherings arrive. This time, I will be going to Asha instead of Mario's. Most of the time, I've had better service at Asha so I hope all will go well and I hope the guy doesn't charge me an arm and a leg.

His name is Jeff.

A Grand Day Out

It was a grand day for the playground. Ellie had such a blast. She loves it.

There was a little girl about Ellie's age (Julia) who came with her grandma. Both of them didn't speak any english so I didn't get much else from her except a hello and got her to say Ellie's name. They had lots of fun chasing each other around, going up and down the slides, and riding the swings. It wasn't long before they were holding hands as they went down the double slides. It was so cute.

I realized how easy it is to make friends when you're so young. Even with the language barrier, if you didn't know these two kids, you'd never know they'd just met. They looked like best friends. The playground was their world.

Nice husband

"Lame Joke Lim" is the latest term around our house. In my defense to those people who think I can be a mean wife, he bestowed this name unto himself. It was almost as funny as "Loose-tooth Lee".

Latest Jae-ism--"Ellie, you want to go shopping for butts?"

But in spite of his lame jokes, my husband has lovingly scrubbed the shower and put Ellie to bed tonight. So I just took the most wonderful shower in 6 months. If the timing had been right, along with a card and a few candles, this could have been the Mother's Day gift. I think I'll hold out for my tennis bracelet.
